Chinese Lucky Knot Earrings
4" (10cm) earrings with hypoallergenic copper earrings hooks.
Chinese knots (中国结, zhōngguó jié) have had a very long and significant place in Chinese culture. Historically, they were used as a method of communication and a way to record events. The earliest evidence of knotting can be seen in bronze vessels from the Warring States period (481 - 221 BCE). Knot tying continued to develop and evolve, reaching its peak during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) as a recognized art form.
Each knot is made from a single length of cord, to symbolize longevity and eternity. Knots come in a variety of colors, the most common being red to symbolize good fortune and prosperity. They are seen as good luck charms and are often given as gifts during Lunar New Year celebrations.
